As with most things, going potty sometimes takes some convincing with Lewis.
Lewis: I NOT need to go potty!
Kevin: I bet you do. You just drank all of that lemonade.
Lewis: (finally peeing) There's my lemonade!
----------
Also related to the potty, we are trying to teach him the order of things when he goes to the bathroom. Do his business, flush, and wash his hands. He's pretty funny about doing things out of order--usually he washes his hands first, pees, and then is insistent that he already washed them and doesn't need to wash them again. This was our exchange at breakfast one morning:
Lewis: I'm all done.
Mama: Ok. I need you to go potty, and then it's time to get ready for school.
Lewis: (runs down the hall, and I hear some noises in the bathroom while I'm cleaning up breakfast)
Mama: (I get to the bathroom, see him straightening the bath mat, and can tell that he's just washed his hands) Lewis, did you go potty?
Lewis: I FRE-GOT (that's how he says forgot)! SILLY LEWIS!
It was so darn cute--silly Lewis! I think he went in there and washed his hands and then got side-tracked with straightening the rug and totally forgot what he was supposed to be doing. Once prompted, he went right away, flushed, washed up, etc. and we got ready for school. Whenever he goes to the bathroom on his own, I listen to hear the flush and the water running, and I'll ask him if he did steps A, B, and C--he's good about going back and completing the missed steps, so that's good. It will all click one of these days. :)
----------
At Hickory Hill, we have to clean the house when we check out. Lewis went upstairs and asked (cousin) Mallory if he could help her clean her room. She let him help her vacuum, and when they were done, they exchanged pleasantries:
Mallory: Thank you, Lewis!
Lewis: Thank you, Mallory!
:) He does that...thanks us after we thank him. :) He also says he is sorry, even when something isn't his fault, so we're working on when it's appropriate to say these niceties.
----------
Sometimes we get to school early, and we have to wait x number of minutes until we can enter the carpool lane. This morning, we were 8 minutes early, so I asked Lewis to count to 8:
Lewis: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Mama: Can you keep going?
Lewis: 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 13, ELEVENTEEN!!!!
Clearly, still working on it. :)

38 Weeks and a Bump Picture
I thought I should go ahead and take another bump picture, JUST in case I go into labor this week! Adie, who was due two days after me, just had her baby boy on Saturday evening, so it's really starting to set in now that I'm next! Our comrade, Julia, who was due 3 weeks ahead of us, had her baby girl a few weeks ago, too, so I'm the last one standing.
38 weeks with Baby Two
38 weeks with Lewis
I went back to the doctor today and have had no changes since last week. Still 1cm and baby is still way up high. (aka I'm never having this baby!) :) I go back next Friday, so maybe between now and then, something will happen. One can hope! :)

Trunk or Treat/Halloween 2014
When I asked Lewis what he wanted to be for Halloween this year, he first said a tractor. I asked him again a few days later, and he said a plane, specifically a blue airplane. I gave him a few more days to make sure he wasn't changing his mind, and then I got to work on researching ideas. I came across this design and decided to recreate the look as best as I could. He found one of his toy planes the other day, and he has since been saying that he's a fighter jet, so I guess we'll go with that for now.
The whole thing probably cost less than $20, plus about 5-6 hours of work on my part. I save boxes, so those were free, of course, and I got the blue duct tape at Dollar Tree (I used about 1 1/2 rolls of blue) and used just a little bit of black and gray that I already had on hand for the propeller and wheels (and attached those with zip ties). Other than some heavy duty scissors, it was pretty simple to put together (though I had to stretch some brain muscles to make the cuts at the correct-ish angles). I was going to make a hat until I found this one on eBay for only $6 with no shipping. I found the bomber jacket at a consignment sale, also for $6, I think. It's a bit small (2/3T), but we made it work. I also spent a few dollars on some strap material I strung through the top of the box to hold the plane up on his shoulders.
I love it, and I think Lewis was happy with how it turned out:
Ready to fly
Blurry, but that's a this-is-awesome face. :)
Whee!
We went to Trunk or Treat last night at his school--the first hour was pizza, and the second hour was trick-or-treating. Walking up the stairs took a little hand-holding, and he fell forward (once) and backward (once) and needed help returning to standing (which made me crack up). Otherwise, he managed pretty well! We took off the plane through dinner and for him to run around with his buddies, of course.
This was his 'touch down' while we were waiting in line
Snacking, post-pizza and pre-candy
Trick-or-Treat!
He's asked if he can go again, so hopefully we aren't in the hospital with a baby on Halloween! :)
He accidentally bumped a few kiddos with his wings, but just gently. He also ran into doorways getting in/out of school, which was pretty funny.
Caaaandy!!!
Fall Festival at Foxhollow Farm
For the second year, we went out the fall festival at Foxhollow Farm yesterday. There was a rain chance all week, but thankfully it ended up being a rain-free (albeit dreary) fall day.
First stop, a tractor!
Two perfect pictures for exhibiting how Lewis felt about the hay castle. :)
A fire truck!
His second one of the week...this was also fire safety week at school, so they talked about what to do in case of a fire, had his first fire drill, and got to meet firemen and tour their truck.
They had most of the same things as last year, including this big bungee contraption:
Flying high
On the hayride
:)
We had fun, and Lewis (and Mama) took a great nap when we got home, resting up for Trunk or Treat at his school last evening.
Anderson Family Weekend at Hickory Hill
For the second year, we met up with my mom's side of the family for a family weekend at Waycross/Hickory Hill last weekend. This year, plans were made before we telling people we were pregnant, so we pushed for 'as early' in October as possible. :) Thankfully we made it through the weekend without going into labor--I had my hospital bag and infant car seat with us, JUST in case. The weather was perfectly fall-like, and we had a really nice time:

Heading out for a hike with Gramma
Hitching a ride from Dad
:)
Heading back with everyone
We hadn't seen Adie/Ben/Gordon since July, so we made plans to see them while we were in their neck of the woods. I'm so glad we did--they welcomed baby #2 yesterday, two weeks early!
Bumping it up with Adie (at 37 weeks)
Baby boy, Westley Edmond, was born yesterday (yay!!).
I took this of my sweet boy because he is just too precious.
I've really been cherishing these past few weeks with him. :) Of course, when I'd left him, his head was up on the pillows.
He has stopped now, but for a few days after we got home, Lew kept asking when we were going back to the Retreat House. I guess he's looking forward to next year!
Fall Fun at Home
Just some random pictures from the past month, catching up. First, a bonfire:
Watching Dad connect the dots :)
Fried Biscuits (donuts) over the fire
Lewis was my taste-tester...by the time I was done, each of the cinnamon/sugar ones had a bite out of it. :) He also liked the powdered sugar ones, but c/s was his preference.
Tall, tall tower
One day (with Kevin's help towards the top), he decided to see how high he could stack his Chuggington track's bridge supports. Pretty high!
He built this set-up on his own while I was busy making his Halloween costume. He ran out of room on the train table, so he expanded it to the floor and used every piece of track we have, I believe.
Weekend Adventures with Kevin and Lewis
Most weekends in September, Lewis and Kevin have gone on at least one special father-son outing, leaving me at home to work on my to-do-before-baby list. They've been to the zoo quite a few times, and today they went to the Science Center. Usually when you ask Lewis what he wants to do, his answers are, 'Is the zoo open?' or 'Is the bouncy house open?' :) A simple man.
Meanwhile, I've been working on getting the baby's room and stuff (e.g. clothing) together, small home improvement projects, painting the master bath (only 18+ months after buying the paint), etc. Important, nesting-type things because, heaven forbid, the baby would come into this world with a splotchy bathroom wall. :)
Wait, I'm wearing a blue shirt...
...and you're wearing a blue shirt!
We are twins! :)
(heading to the zoo)
Jaguar
Lewis has apparently warmed up to the idea. We were both so spooked one time by his roar, so we tend to just cruise by without slowing down to see him.
One tired Lew on the carousel
Different day, different trip to the zoo:
On the train
Found the baby goat (again)
Different trip/different weekend...speaking of babies, this trip was the debut weekend for the baby boy hippo who was born last month:
He is down in the water (in the shadow), to the right of his mama's hip. It's hard to see him, but you can kind of maybe see the size difference between mama and baby. I think he was 18 lbs. at birth, and I'm not sure what he's up to now.
Here, he has moved back into the sun, while his mama is still in the shadow.
I'm not sure where they are sitting here, but they sure are cute! :)
You're turning violet, Violet!
The big Halloween party is at the zoo all of October, so they were able to see some of the decorations (without having to deal with the crowds at the actual Halloween party).
Kevin says he plans to take Lewis and the new baby to the zoo, solo, sometime, so I'm curious to see how that goes! Not at first, of course--we'll have to see what kind of weather we have this winter.
Here's a picture from the Science Center this morning. I had plans with Kate for breakfast, so the guys went to play and to see a 3D movie about dinosaurs.
Lewis + popcorn = love
