A little mish-mash of happenings from last week:
First, Lewis had his first 'real' dentist appointment! He'd gone with me once, just to sit in the chair and have his mouth looked at briefly. This visit was complete, with a brushing, (very brief) flossing, and fluoride treatment. The dentist said he has nice-looking teeth.
She noticed his facial abrasions and asked how it had happened--she said everything looked fine, but warned us to call them if he takes a harder fall and hits his mouth at all. She also told me to take the valves out of all of his sippy cups now to prevent jaw problems later--so far, sort of okay. We've had a few spills, but nothing major. The next step will be to take the lid off and teach him to drink from a real cup. One thing at a time.
Playing in the chair
He didn't actually sit here for his cleaning--I had him in my lap on a chair, and I laid him back into the assistant's lap for the cleaning (and the dentist's lap for the exam and fluoride). It was rough--he was definitely not happy, but they were fast/efficient and he was fine afterwards. He actually seemed to like how the fluoride treatment tasted--he stopped fussing and started licking his lips.
Another day last week, he asked for a banana (he calls it a bee-mama) for snack. I gave him one and started working on dinner while he played with his cars and in his kitchen. A few minutes later, he came over and said BEE-MAMA, like 'Look, Mama, I made you something!' He had taken his banana, broken it into pieces, and smushed it all within his pots and pans set. He brought it all over in one smushed mess, so proud of himself. He then proceeded to pour the pieces from one pan to another, eating some pieces off the floor as he went along. :)
Banana everywhere!
We finally met up with Tonya and Carlton again last week! First they were sick, then we were sick, and then they were again! It had been over a month since we'd seen them, I believe. I swear Carlton was a few inches taller since I saw him last. Unfortunately, he and Lewis kind of ran opposite ways most of the time we were at the playground. We didn't get a ton of time to catch up in between chasing them away from danger, but some. We'll see them again this week!
Speaking of danger...
Lewis of course was drawn to this tall slide that was rated for a 5-12 year old. He figured out how to climb the ladder (with me spotting him, of course), and he went down it 6 or 7 times. I really had to watch him to make sure he didn't get brave without me there to catch him (in case he slipped).
On another (safer) slide, he met a sweet little friend. I'm pretty sure she and her parents were in town for the mini or marathon--they were really nice to talk to and were super sweet to Lew as well. The little friend's name was Evelyn, and she just turned 2 last month. She and Lewis seemed like kindred spirits and played very well together--she reminded me a lot of Juni B. (my niece), too.
I am now going to steal your bunny!
You can have it back since you're so sweet.
We were all dying at the cuteness--they just sat there and had their little 2-year-old interactions. It was absolutely adorable. She was a very good talker at 2 (like Juni B. was) and sweet, with a slight touch of sass (also like Juni B.). :) She was a very sweet girl.
he is a ladies man!! he loves to flirt.
